How does dry ice cleaning work?

Dry ice cleaning uses solid CO₂ pellets accelerated by compressed air and directed at the contaminated surface.
Upon impact, the dry ice pellets remove contamination with a combination of kinetic energy and thermal shock, without damaging the underlying material. The dry ice sublimates upon impact, so that no water or residue is left behind.

Continuity and safety leave no room for mistakes.

Traditional cleaning methods often increase risks, disruption and operational impact unnecessarily.
Unplanned downtime
Production interruptions result in lost output and increased costs.
Surface damage
Abrasive techniques can damage sensitive surfaces and components.
Disassembly
Cleaning often requires dismantling, which means lost time and extra risks.
Water or chemicals
Not all installations can handle wet or chemical cleaning.
Secondary pollution
Blasting media can leave residues or extra waste behind.
Sensitive components
Delicate parts require a controlled, non-abrasive approach.

CRYOX is your technical partner for industrial dry ice cleaning.

Every project is treated as a technical maintenance operation rather than a conventional cleaning task, with the focus on safety, minimal downtime and controlled execution.

STEP 1

Analysis and Risk Assessment

echnical evaluation of the installation, contamination and environment before starting. If necessary, a test zone is implemented to validate parameters and suitability.

STEP 2

Safety Alignment

Alignment with site procedures, LMRA and applicable safety guidelines. Cleaning is done according to the required safety standards and working conditions.

STEP 3

Execution

Pressure, pellet size and parameters adjusted to suit installation and application. Targeted cleaning with a focus on control, precision and minimal impact.

STEP 4

Restart

inimal disassembly and controlled delivery. The installation is returned to operational status in a safe and controlled manner.

Not sure whether your application is suitable?

We assess the situation in advance, based on your installation, contamination and risk.

Built on hands-on experience in critical industrial environments.

CRYOX emerged from practical experience in petrochemical and offshore environments where safety, preparation and control are not options but absolute requirements.
We approach industrial cleaning with the same degree of discipline: minimal disassembly, controlled execution and respect for production processes.
Technically substantiated approach, no standard interventions
Clear preparation and controlled execution
Focus on long-term relationships and reliability
This is not conventional cleaning. Every project is executed as a controlled technical process.
